Need for the course
Data is the driving force behind any successful organization! How an organization collects, analyses, interprets, uses, preserves and attaches value to its data can be the difference between average performance and competitive advantage; indeed, a well-thought-out data management architecture can help you take advantage of any number of opportunities that change presents and those that effectively align their data strategies with their organization vision are in a good position to offer innovation. Successful organizations long realized the fact that gaining real relevance and competitive advantage requires unique data-driven processes and capabilities; for this reason, it is vital to have a data management strategy that focuses on the creation of accurate, consistent and transparent data content that can be integrated into organization applications and processes.
Indeed, the exponential levels at which data is being produced globally demands data scientists who can model, transform information and visually communicate data in a variety of work environments and for informed and prompt decision making.
This course is intended for staff interested in learning the most effective data analysis methods to solve problems and achieve insight with a special focus on how to plan, carry out, and communicate analyses of real data sets. The workshop introduces statistical techniques such as summarizing and presenting data, estimation, probabilities and probability distributions, confidence intervals, correlation and regression models and hypothesis testing. This course places special emphases on the understanding of key concepts and statistical thinking, calculations and interpretation of results.
What you will get from this workshop
Perform statistical analysis & present different types of data in an appropriate manner
Present findings of data analysis in a research proposal
Identify areas/issues/situations where statistical analysis would be beneficial.
Use SPSS to calculate statistical measures and interpret SPSS outputs.
Use your data and analytical ability to find and interpret rich data sources
Manage large amounts of data even in environments with hardware, software or bandwithdth constraints
Demonstrate dexterity in merging data sources & Ensure consistency of datasets
Present and communicate data insights and create visualizations to aid in the understanding of data
Build mathematical models using the data
