Training Brief
Among the core components of the responsibilities of most non-finance program staff-Program Directors, Managers, Officers, Coordinators- include Planning, Budgeting, Financial Accounting, Control, and Communication functions which among others involve tasks such as; Interpreting financial information to the program staff, Identifying funding gaps within the budget, Providing technical support and guidance to the Senior Management and Board during planning and strategic resource allocations exercises, Monitoring implementation of donor agreements and resource utilization, Identification and Management of Financial Risks Related to Program Performance, Planning for relevant training to ensure good understanding of the budgeting and finance issues among program staff, Establishing information relevance before submitting the technical reports and Enhancing Communication of Program staff with finance colleagues**.**
Consequently, this intensive 6-day training is designed to skill non finance managers in certain vital basics in finance, budgeting and communication-financial terminology, financial reporting templates, Preparation of budgets, Knowledge and skills in aligning budgets to programmatic objectives, strategies and plans and strategically using financial information to improve intra and inter organization financial communication to improve program performance.
To further the aims of this training, Asset Africa will provide all necessary after training support–including materials and assistance in designing and applying situationspecific finance and budget implementation monitoring tools-for the participants to transfer the skills acquired to their team members and colleagues.

Methodology
- The design of this training takes into cognizance the fact that participants are not finance oriented; thus, facilitation is made to be quite practical, interactive and drawing on adult learning methodologies. Plenary discussions, Power Point guided lectures, small and bigger group discussion, case studies and sharing of experiences will help participants internalize key concepts.
- Complex Financial principles are explained in a simple and practical way for non financial personnel to easily assimilate and apply them
